I wanted a pot (Le Creuset) and I wanted a perfume (Chanel No 5). I couldn't bear to spend on both at the same time, so I had to make a choice. Looking at the picture of what I cooked for lunch today (recipe here), it isn't difficult to deduce which one won out as my true heart's desire.
The pot, of course!!
I am poorer by about $300 but am still grinning from ear to ear because I can now make fork tender pot roasts and braised meats. This recipe is delicious but I held off from adding the 5-spice powder.
Hooray for the Le Creuset!!

If you hint hard enough, you might get the Chanel from hubby this Christmas.
I would go for the pot too cos then I can make delicious food for the family. They won't care if I smell nice but it would be nice if I can cook well.
The Husband was with me at Robinson's to buy the pot. I dragged him downstairs to get a whiff of Chanel No 5. He did offer to get it for me from France when he travels there this quarter... but I told him not to bother. I told him to buy foie gras instead. Heh!!
hehe.. The Hubby should get both the foie gras and the Chanel No. 5! :P
Oh, The French Stall serves this dish as well.
OKC - Heh!
The French Stall - Here I come!
Le Creuset gets my vote hands down! Tell you a secret: I was eyeing the french oven for like the longest time but I simply cannot bring myself to buy it. So, for a few months, I bought this particular lifestyle magazine religiously and took part in their lucky draw contests, which the grand price was a set of Le Creuset pots worth up to S$1500. And guess what? I won a set!!! I was sooo happy for a few wks, and every time I used the pots to cook. I would be grinning from ear to ear. :)
Whoa! You smart cookie you! Eh... which lifestyle magazine? I wanna try too!
The magazine is "Square Rooms". I religiously cut the coupons/contest slips and sent them in for a few months. Sometimes, the prize would be the Le Creuset, other times, it would be a set of "high performance" Japanese kitchen knives fit for a Ninja. I was just soooo happy that I won the pots!
Wen-Ai: Now I know why your beef cheeks look so tender!! Le Creuset!!
