An Insect for Laryngitis

The Husband came home with a treasury of Godiva chocolates. I ate so much that I gave myself a phlegmy sore throat, which progressed quickly to laryngitis. So off I went to Eu Yan Sang for a packet of their "kai yin cha" (i.e., open your voice tea). It never fails to give me my voice back within a day. This tea is not for the squeamish for key in its composition is a bee of some sort. It's black and furry and has multi-coloured wings. It looks every bit like an insect.

Here it is in macro view. See it's wings?

I don't know what is in this packet. I should find out huh? But well... Eu Yan Sang has it so conveniently packaged that I've delegated the task of knowing to them. Let's just be intellectually lazy sometimes. I do know that it works though.

Everytime.

Er..... gulp.... if it works! I've been nursing a bad bad cough for a week now... but I'm still not sure I'll be game to take that... that insect.

Actually, would it be so bad if you knew that you only need to drink the brew and not actually have to chew the insect?

One that doesn't' fail me is Ginger tea concoction. When I have to give workshops the whole day, this keeps me my throat hydrated quickly. And when I totally lose my voice, big gulps of this for an afternoon does the trick. Just Onions, Garlic, Ginger, boiled together, then squeeze lime or lemon (I prefer lime for it's simplicity of squeezing) and honey to taste. No need to specially buy any of the ingredients bc we usually have them in-stock at home.

Karmeleon - Thanks for the heads-up. I'll try this next time. I spent 2.5 weeks unable to talk in January. NOTHING helped.

2.5weeks is soooo long! I would put in a tumbler to sip the whole day.

Karmeleon - Tell me about it!! I felt like a prisoner inside here. Even The Husband got irritated because he felt that we weren't communicating.
